Ford might begin selling some products from Ford of Europe in the States, according to CEO Alan Mulally, who adds that he wants to create a lineup of cars and trucks that can be sold globally.
Ford is looking at the S-Max crossover, the Mondeo sedan and the Transit (a commercial van). The S-Max is based on the Mondeo and was named 2007's European Car of the Year.
The Mondeo sedan probably won't come here until 2010, when the next generation will share a platform with the redone Fusion.
The news comes as Ford announced a $12.7 billion loss for 2006.
Six speeds on tap
Meanwhile, the next-generation Ford F-150 pickup, due in 2009, will come with a six-speed automatic transmission, according to Automotive News. Ford isn't saying if the six-speed will be standard or optional. The next-generation Ford Escape, on sale this fall, will use a six-speed as well.
