"If ringtones were free, 60 percent of people would change their ringtones every day or week. Ninety percent would change their ringtones monthly," said Jim Mansfield, vice president of marketing for Phonezoo, a new company that lets users create and distribute cell phone ringtones online.
Phonezoo caters to users who want more ringtone options than current ringtone providers can offer. Since opening for business in mid-November, Phonezoo has twice as many ringtones in its online archives as the next-largest ringtone provider.
The service does not charge any fees, but each user is required to create an account and provide his or her email, phone number,…
