In 1995 AsiaMoney had named Hatton National Bank HNB as 'Commercial Bank of the year' calling it the flagship of Sri Lanka's commercial banking. In the following years, more than once Lanka Business Review and the National Chamber of Commerce ranked HNB among the most the respected companies.

In November 2006 international business circles recognised HNB's progress when 'The Banker' magazine bestowed upon HNB its coveted 'Sri Lanka Bank of the Year 2006' award.

These eleven years were challenging for Sri Lanka and HNB, in fact for the whole of South East Asia.
