*The triple combination of a protease inhibitor, AZT (zidovudine) and ddC (zalcitabine) is more effective than protease inhibitor plus AZT or AZT plus ddC, a clinical trial suggests.

*The preliminary Phase II trial results were reported by University of Washington researcher Ann Collier at the 34th Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy (ICAAC), held October 4-7, 1994, in Orlando, Florida. The trial is the largest completed clinical trial of a member of the new class of anti-HIV agents known as protease inhibitors.
