Charles S. Lauer, longtime publisher of Modern Healthcare, announced his retirement effective Feb. 2. Lauer, 76, currently is the magazine's vice president of publishing and editorial director, a title he assumed in February 2005 with the promotion of Fawn Lopez, 47, to publisher from associate publisher (Feb. 14, 2005, p. 4).
"I want to thank all the people whom I've worked with over the years who've made Modern Healthcare the leading business publication in the industry,'' Lauer said. "I also want to thank all the people in the field that have made the healthcare system in the United States the greatest industry in this country and the envy of the world.''
"Chuck's passion and unwavering commitment to the success of Modern Healthcare helped the magazine to establish itself as the `go-to' book for healthcare leaders,'' Lopez said. "I deeply appreciate his contributions not only to the magazine but also to my personal and professional development.''
