Feb. 2--KISSIMMEE -- Rep. John Quinones, the first Puerto Rican Republican in the Florida Legislature, said Thursday that he will step down to run for the newly drawn Hispanic-majority Osceola County Commission seat. Quinones, R-Kissimmee, said he wants to help heal divisions in the county caused by a federal judge's order doing away with countywide election of all commissioners in favor of single-member districts.
