Jan. 31--We convened a panel of judges to taste a variety of canned chili brands. Tribune columnist Steve Otto, whose 2007 Chili Cook-off will take place March 31 at Channelside in Tampa, was joined by Albert "Bucified Bert" Owens and Laura Klosterman, Miss Pasco County. (Klosterman is a vegetarian, so she only judged the meat-free brands.) The verdict: For chili purists, a can is the last option for chili. Still, some taste better than others.
