Tokyo, 30 January: A case of suspected avian influenza has been detected in the town of Shintomi in Miyazaki Prefecture, following another case in the same prefecture and one in Okayama Prefecture earlier this month, the Miyazaki prefectural government said Tuesday [30 January].

Twenty-three chickens have died so far at a poultry farm in the town and seven of 13 birds tested positive for bird flu in preliminary tests, according to the local government.
