History is repeating itself. Viennese contemporary historian Gerhard Jagschitz even speaks of an "astonishing duplication" between the political resumes of the two rightist politicians Joerg Haider and Heinz-Christian Strache. Both of them availed themselves of the far right camp of the Freedom Party of Austria [FPOe] to further their political rise; and during their upward trajectories both of them fell out seriously with their pan-German nationalist backers.
