Half a mile north of the graphic overload of Times Square, pedestrians have a reason to raise their weary eyes skyward again. "Sleepwalkers," a series of silent short films by the artist Doug Aitken, is a site-specific installation projected on the exterior walls of the Museum of Modern Art. From 5 to 10 each night through Feb. 12, eight films will play simultaneously on eight facades of the museum, following five characters as they make their way through New York City. In one film, Donald Sutherland portrays a businessman whose run-in with a taxi inspires an impromptu tap dance on the hood of the cab.
