Federal prosecutors in New York, in cooperation with the New York district attorney, have indicted the man who ran the U.N. oil-for-food program. Benon Sevan is charged with fraud and with having accepted $160,000 in bribes related to the program. Currently he is in Cyprus, his homeland, a country that does not extradite its own citizens. Perhaps Sevan is content to spend the rest of his life there.
