There are calls for a presidential pardon. Congressmen have rallied to the agents' cause. The frustrated U.S. Attorney whose office prosecuted the pair points out that the agents themselves failed to arrest the smuggler, who had abandoned a van carrying 740 pounds of marijuana, because they were too busy covering up their own malfeasance in shooting 15 times at a fleeing, unarmed suspect who had attempted to surrender. They claim that the fleeing suspect posed a threat, but other agents on the scene contradicted their account. The agents then falsified official reports to avoid justice. The two agents ...
