KUALA LUMPUR: A flock of plain pouched hornbills flying across the skies made Dennis Yong's heart beat at a rapid pace.

The professional bird-watcher described it "as an amazing spectacle".

"We are so lucky to have such a phenomenon in Malaysia," said Yong, who has caught sight of the globally threatened birds in the Belum-Temenggor forest reserve.

Yong, 56, took time off for one year from his tour firm to be part of "The Big Bird Year" where avid bird-watchers travel to see as many species of birds as possible and if they are lucky, catch a glimpse of …
