The Public Urban Library Service Education (PULSE) program, devised by Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) in collaboration with the Pratt Institute School of Information and Library Science (SILS), New York, will expire July 31. The program garnered much praise for its innovative training for careers in urban public libraries. Funded by an Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) grant with a match from BPL, PULSE trained 21 students over three years.
