from BERNAMA, The Malaysian National News Agency KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 29 (Bernama) -- With the ringgit strengthening and economic growth slowing, Malaysia needs to neutralise the impact by lowering the interest rate, according to the Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (MIER)

According to its executive director Professor Emeritus Dr Mohamed Ariff Abdul Kareem, the interest rate is likely to fall

"I expect that to happen in the first quarter. Bank Negara Malaysia will move towards the interest rate we have some time ago before the increase started," he told Bernama
