Public prosecutors yesterday decided there was insufficient evidence to put former senator Napinthorn Srisanpang on trial on a charge of masterminding the murder of former Thai Rak Thai MP Kobkul Nopamorn-bordee.
Three men accused of shooting Kobkul dead in Ratchaburi last May must wait for their trial to open on February 1.
Head prosecutor Sompong Tangsiri said current evidence was not sufficient to put Napinthorn on trial. Criminal Litigation Department director-general Sermkiat Woradit and national police chief Kowit Wattana had approved the decision.
