New Delhi,StartDateStartDate 25 January: In the first sign of Russia's willingness to give ONGC Videsh Ltd (OVL) a stake in the giant Sakhalin-III oil and gas project, President Vladimir Putin Thursday said he will support the Indian company's efforts.

"Petroleum Minister (Murli Deora) has spoken to me about (involving OVL in) Sakhalin-III... I will support it," he said at a meeting with industry captains here.

Deora has been pushing for expanding OVL's participation in future projects on Sakhalin Island in far-east Russia. The company has 20 per cent stake …
