Jan. 25--Cabarrus County is getting a new "second-chance" high school because of grants from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, county school officials will announce tonight.
At a work session, school board members will hear about the Performance Learning Center, which will be one of four in North Carolina to get funding. The only one currently operating is in Charlotte.
The center will be for students struggling to graduate, said Colleen Sain, assistant superintendent for the Cabarrus County Schools.
