Jan. 18--When Rob and Crystal Woolcock bought their home in the new subdivision north of Polk Elementary School two years ago, she got to know all the neighbors by taking around plates of homemade cookies.

"It gave me a chance to just meet everybody," Crystal Woolcock says. That simple act of kindness cemented friendships up and down their block.

"I know everyone on our street. Everyone looks out for each other.

"Our next-door neighbor mowed our lawn when he knew my husband was busy and took out our trash cans," she says.
