A driving lesson
Kevin Wilson's Dec. 4 column, "Don't Panic, but be Smart,'' is one of the best articles I've read this year on driving. We all think we're great drivers, but the best drivers are the most considerate.
In this age of twin-scroll superchargers and souped-up econoboxes, lots of drivers have lots of power. Control and the judgment of power makes good drivers. Riding my motorcycle, when I leave a reasonable distance between the vehicle ahead and myself, someone pulls into that safety zone. It doesn't matter which lane is going faster; they see a space and need to occupy it. Being considerate is more important than proving a point.

Stirring a drop-top battle
The Mercedes' Ocean Drive concept (News, Jan. 1) is nice, but why isn't Cadillac selling a big four-door convertible? In its heyday, Caddy was known for its large drop-tops. The company would own this market again even if it just had one model in production. Price it at $60,000 to $75,000 depending on options and the company would have an instant hit.
Not only would every Hollywood type scramble to own one, the drop-top would be the ultimate family car for well-to-do families. So don't let Mercedes get there first, Cadillac. This is your market niche. Capitalize on it.
