Parsons in hospital
Former NASCAR champion Benny Parsons has been readmitted to a Charlotte-area hospital for treatment of lung cancer. The 20-time Nextel Cup winner and 1973 series champion was diagnosed in the spring. He maintained his busy broadcasting schedule for much of last year before missing some races and post-season events in the fall and winter.
Chase revisions
It appears that NASCAR will expand its Chase for the Championship field and change its point structure this season.
Vice-president of corporate communications Jim Hunter told USA Today that details will be announced during the upcoming Lowe's Motor Speedway Media Tour in the Charlotte area.
Rennsport III
Porsche's third Rennsport Reunion will take place Nov. 2-4, 2007, at Daytona International Speedway. Rennsport Reunion III is open to the public and features a three-day program of on-track competition, plus a concours d'elegance.
