RAUB: It's a straight fight between Barisan Nasional and an independent candidate for the Batu Talam by-election, following the boycott by Pas and Parti Keadilan Rakyat.

BN candidate Abdul Aziz Mat Kiram, 47, will face 22-year-old Ng Chee Pang, son of Pahang DAP treasurer Ng Kwi Ling.

Polling is set for Jan 28 and 10,525 registered voters, mostly Malays, will decide the winner to replace the late Tengku Paris Razlan, who died last month, as state assemblyman.

Abdul Aziz is Raub Umno division secretary while Ng is a trader.
