Jan. 15--About 11:35 p.m. on New Year's Eve, Bryan Jones, 20, was working on his computer when he realized his nephew was still at a friend's house, and he decided to pick him up because it was raining. Jones hopped in his green Crown Victoria on Haddington Street near 57th and drove a block to pick up his nephew, Samir, who was playing basketball video games at the home of Charles Williams, 13, on 59th Street near Haddington. He parked in the next block behind the Williams house and came in the back door. Williams' mom said they talked "for a good while" before she walked the two youths to the back porch to say goodbye, and then went upstairs to watch the ball drop in Times Square on her TV.
