Cebu, The Philippines, 14 January: Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe met with the leaders of the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations in Cebu on Sunday [14 January] to discuss North Korea's past abductions of Japanese nationals as well as a possible free trade agreement between Japan and ASEAN.

Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, who is chairing this year's ASEAN-related summits, is expected to mention North Korea's abductions and the standoff over Pyongyang's nuclear ambitions in her opening statement at the ASEAN-Japan …
