7.45am Get into car, panic as I'm now late. Turn on Capital hoping for good news of the M40.

8.30am Scott from traffic calls. Two Marks & Spencer briefs - new work by tomorrow, Virgin Atlantic needed in two days, Land Rover by Friday, Lloyds by Friday, BT by Thursday, Visit London by Wednesday. We have a week on Xerox.

9.20am The lovely Christine brings me a cup of tea. I see Scott lurking behind her holding what looks like more bad news. Thank God he's one of the world's nicest men.

9.40am Call the Land Rover shoot in Bangkok to explain there can't be any tents on the beach scene. It seems the Italians think camping is something only pikeys do.

10.00am Off to M&S for Creative Forum. A meeting where all the business unit heads, in-store design team and the agency get together to make sure what we're all doing adds up. We all have a titter about Tesco and Morrison copying our food campaign. Have these people no pride?

12.05pm Back to the agency. Do M&S ...
