Jan. 11--The Omaha area commemorates the birthday of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. with speeches, music and prayer.
Play is offered
A Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration and Luncheon is from noon to 2 p.m. today. The 22nd annual event, hosted by Metropolitan Community College, is at the south Omaha campus's Industrial Training Center, 2707 Babe Gomez Ave.
Entertainment includes "The Meeting," a play by Jess Stetson.
Tickets are $12 for general admission, which includes a boxed lunch.
Message recalled
Employees of the City of Omaha, Douglas County and Woodmen of the World will honor King today in the Legislative Chambers of the Civic Center.
"Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the Man, the Message" begins at noon and features music by the Jesuit Middle School of Omaha's swing choir as well…
