Going longer
Texans like to say everything is bigger in their state, and now the IRL race will be, too-or at least longer. Officials will add 50 kilometers, or 28 laps, to the 2007 race, pushing the distance to 550K. Other IRL events, such as the Richmond, Virginia, race, are expected to be lengthened as well.
Last call
Anheuser-Busch confirmed 2007 will be the final year of Busch beer's long run as title sponsor of NASCAR's second-tier, developmental series. Budweiser sponsored the series until 1984, when A-B shifted sponsorship to Busch. Among the early favorites to replace Busch in 2008 include Wal-Mart, Red Bull and Samsung.
Peugeot progresses
Peugeot successfully completed a 24-hour dynamometer test of the all-new, 5.5-liter V12 diesel engine that will power its 908 Le Mans Prototype. The first chassis will be ready in early January, and Peugeot will take it to Sebring for testing, although it has no plans to contest the 12-hour race March 17.
