ProQuest Information and Learning to merge with CSA in $222m deal
Cambridge Information Group (CIG) has bought academic database provider ProQuest Information and Learning and will merge the ProQuest division with its own Cambridge Scientific Abstracts (CSA) business.
ProQuest and CIG have signed a definitive deal, said to be worth $222m ([pounds sterling]113m), which will see CIG take control.
The two companies will be combined into a new, privately held company.
As well as CSA, CIG owns the bibliographic businesses Bowker and RefWorks.
In an open letter to employees and customers, ProQuest Information and Learning president David "Skip" Prichard reassured both communities that the business would not be broken up. "That means all of your contracts, licence rights and account balances will be intact," he said.
