A group led by a unit of Anadarko Petroleum Corp., Houston, has gauged its fourth large oil strike in Algeria's Sahara Desert.
Anadarko Algeria Corp.'s 1 Berkine East wildcat (1 BKE) flowed a combined 15,275 b/d of oil, 3,745 b/d of condensate, and 40 MMcfd of gas from Triassic and Devonian pays.
Anadarko drilled the well to 15,800 ft on Block 404 in the Ghadames basin.
It is the fourth discovery in seven wildcats by the Anadarko group since it acquired four areas covering a combined 5.1 million acres in the Ghadames and Illizi basins. The blocks are held under a 1989 production sharing agreement with Algerian state oil company Sontrach (OGJ, July …
