Jan. 9--Independence High athletics director Kelly Lewis knows the accusations will swirl. When two high-profile football players -- West Charlotte running back Rod Chisholm and Vance quarterback Anthony Carrothers -- announced during the weekend they were considering moving into Independence's district, murmurs of illegal recruiting began.

It's not illegal to transfer, but sometimes it's controversial.

Butler football coach Mike Newsome said he doesn't agree with the transfer policy. "I don't know what can be done about it, but I haven't seen too many moves where it is beneficial to the student," he said Monday.…
