SITI SARIAH SARIMAN, 50 SITI Sariah Sariman took out her life savings of RM50,000 five years ago and used it to set up a home for disabled children.

Since then, the 50-year-old social worker has discovered how generous Malaysians can be.

In the first year, it was neighbours in Serene Park in Johor Baru who helped keep the home afloat.

"They sent me all the necessities, knowing that I was running a children's home." Even now, charity keeps pouring in, meeting the needs of the 15 children at her Sari Saujana Handicapped Children's Home.
