Jan. 3--A 5-year-old child was struck by a car this morning in front of a school in southwest Charlotte, police say. According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, the child's injuries are not life-threatening. The student has been taken to a hospital for treatment, according to initial reports.
The incident happened about 7:10 a.m. on Nations Ford Road, in front of Nations Ford Elementary School. According to police, the driver of a car on Nations Ford Road appeared to lose control of the vehicle, went off the road, and might have struck a tree before striking the child.
