South Africa today Tuesday 2 January 2007 officially assumes its seat as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) following elections held on 16 October 2006 in the United Nations General Assembly.

In this regard Minister Dlamini Zuma, supported by the director-general, Dr Ayanda Ntsaluba, and Deputy Director-General George Nene, will be visiting New York on Monday 8 January 2007.
