Pact gives Glennon leg up on Children's in west county

Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital and St. John's Mercy Medical Center are collaborating on a pediatric neurosciences program -- the forerunner of several proposed shared services.

The hospitals' plan also calls for the transfer of some additional undisclosed diagnostic services from the 190-licensed bed Cardinal Glennon to the 979-licensed bed St. John's to make those services more accessible to patients in west St. Louis County, said Doug Ries, president and chief executive of Cardinal Glennon. Very sick children will be referred to Cardinal Glennon, whic will continue to focus on high-tech care.
