Palestinian [National] Authority Prime Minister Isma'il Haniyah said Thursday [28 December] that kidnapped IDF [Israel Defence Forces] soldier Gilad Shalit would be released soon. His remarks sparked a wave of speculation in the West Bank and Gaza Strip about an impending prisoner exchange between Israel and the Palestinians.
