Dec. 22--Three decades of giving.

Pacelli Junior/Senior High School students reached that anniversary this year for their Christmas Basket Project, which helps local families in need.

Overall, Pacelli students in seventh through 12th grades raised $1,719.71 for the project, according to a school news release.

Starting the first day of Advent, students took money and new toys to their religion classes. Money collected is used to buy gifts for area families who are selected anonymously by priests of Austin's Catholic parishes.

This year, seven families were chosen to receive help. Extra money will be used to buy items for the Toys for Tots…
