Due to a ballast imbalance, the transport ship Cougar Ace tips sideways in the North Atlantic with more than 4700 new Japanese vehicles bound for North America aboard. The ship was finally righted, and the cars were unloaded and inspected for damage, to be sold as used cars at dealers. All the Vehicle Identification Numbers of the tipsy Mazdas have been posted at www.mazdausa.com, and the cars will be offered at a discount, which is a helluva long way to go to get to this punch line: We figure that'll be-wait for it-list price! (List? Like a ship lists to the side? Oh, never mind.)
A conceited racer? Really?
The Pixar animated film Cars is released, easily the more realistic of the two NASCAR-themed features from 2006. Starring Owen Wilson as Lightning McQueen, a conceited race car, the film introduced a variety of catch phrases that, inexplicably, never quite catch on, including:
* I'm happier than a tornado in a trailer park!
* Ka-chow!
