THERE are great men, and there are good men. Seldom are both qualities met in one person. Now he has gone through that final doorway, probably the last of the great 20th Century icons Uganda has had.
The 85-year-old Canon John Bikangaga died after battling a combination of high blood pressure, diabetes and peripheral vascular disease at Kampala International Hospital on Saturday.
He will be laid to rest at his ancestral home in Rutoma, Kabale district, on Saturday.
His spiral of achievements are known to anyone familiar with 20th Century Ugandan prominent statesmen. Bikangaga was one of the pioneers of Uganda's civil service.
