British, Iraqi premiers hold news conference in Baghdad.

Baghdad-based Al-Iraqiyah TV at 1009 gmt on 17 December begins to carry live from Baghdad a news conference by Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and visiting British Prime Minister Tony Blair. The news conference is observed to be carried live by Al-Sharqiyah TV and by Al-Jazeera and Al-Arabiya.

Al-Maliki says at the outset that Blair expressed "his commitment to the support of Iraq and an Iraqi national unity government to face the challenges".
