Dec. 16--We're in for a real break in the weather: No more fierce winds. Continued wet, yeah, but not enough to cause big floods. And no snow accumulation.

"It will be quite a benign weekend," University of Washington meteorologist Cliff Mass said.

The big dumping of snow will taper off in the mountains. And there's a chance of mixed rain and snow, followed by showers today for the Seattle area.

But don't worry about a return to the snow and icy misery of late November, said Ted Buehner of the National Weather Service in Seattle.
