Dec. 18--COLUMBIA -- When last seen on Faurot Field, the Missouri football team was celebrating a 42-17 victory over archrival Kansas that was about as dominating as any triumph in its 8-4 season.
Quarterback Chase Daniel had thrown for a career-high 356 yards and four touchdowns. The tight ends -- All-Big 12 selection Martin Rucker and Chase Coffman -- each had caught seven passes. And Tony Temple -- clutching the football in a fashion that made you forget about his previous fumble problems -- ran 21 times for 72 yards and a back-breaking TD romp.
"It was the culmination, so far as you could see what we can do with this offense," Daniel said. "The thing is consistency, doing that all the time."
Consistency is the goal as the Tigers begin preparations for their final game of the season against Oregon State on Dec. 29 in the Sun Bowl at El Paso, Texas. The idea is to pick up with the Beavers where they left off with the Jayhawks.
"It was fun catching the ball like that; I want more of that," Rucker said.
Fourteen catches between Coffman and Rucker? Now wasn't that what everyone expected every game from the tight-end tandem?
