Dec. 13--Faced with a need for more school space, the Iredell-Statesville school board is considering a complex that could house an elementary school, high school magnet program and district offices under one roof.

Board members selected FirstChoice Public-Private Partners Monday to look at building new schools for the district under a capital lease agreement. A capital lease is a form of financing that was approved recently by the state legislature to help speed up school construction projects and possibly reduce the costs. The district can provide the land, and the developer would handle the school design and construction.…
