Dec. 8--Convicted wife-killer Mark Unger lost his parental rights to his sons during a brief hearing Thursday in Oakland County Family Court.
Unger, 45, was convicted by a Benzie County jury in June of murdering his wife, Florence, 37, at a northern Michigan resort in 2003. The couple, who were in the middle of a divorce at the time of her death, were the parents of two sons, Max, now 13, and Tyler, now 10. Florence Unger's body was found Oct. 25, 2003, in Lower Herring Lake. Prosecutors said Mark Unger forced her over the railing of a deck. Unger, who is serving a life sentence at the Bellamy Creek Correctional Facility in Ionia County, was in court Thursday and chose not to fight the prosecution's decision to terminate his rights, a court official said.
