Dec. 7--A student at Northwest High School suffered an accidental gunshot wound today after bringing a gun to the school at 8204 Crown Point Ave.

Omaha police Sgt. Teresa Negron Negron said the incident occurred at 10:42 a.m. inside a classroom. A male student "had a gun on his person" that accidentally discharged, she said. The injured student went to Immanuel Medical Center on his own.

The school is in lockdown, meaning students can't come or go without permission, she said.
