Who wants to count calories during holidays? Uh, nobody. Even so, if you plan to indulge for a few months, you have to counteract that gluttony by making sure you adhere to a workout regimen. That's easier said than done when you're traveling a lot and frequently slipping into pumpkin pie-induced food comas.
But don't fret. Top trainer Kathy Kaehler, author of Kathy Kaehler's Celebrity Workouts: How to Get a Hollywood Body in Just 30 Minutes-who has trained celebs like Jennifer Aniston and Julia Roberts has created this do-anywhere routine that can multitask. Translation: These moves will sculpt your muscles and increase your pulse (i.e., strengthen your heart and incinerate fat) simultaneously.
Instead of the usual instructions-do 15 reps of 3 sets, blah, blah, blah she suggests switching things up a bit. "Do as many repetitions of each move as you can in one minute, then aim for repeating the entire rotation three times," instructs Kaehler. "Keep your focus on maintaining correct form as well."
And remember, consistency is key (aim for at least three times a week), If you opt to slack off, you will be bummin" come January, when you can't button your favorite jeans!
Straight-Leg Kicks
Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and your arms extended straight out to the sides (a). Bend your right leg so it's supporting your weight, and make sure not to extend your right knee past your foot. Kick your left leg straight out in front of you, keeping your foot flexed, and try to touch your left foot with your right hand (b). "Keep your back straight," notes Kaehler. "This move is all about balance. Leaning forward too much shifts your weight off your leg, so you won't get the maximum benefit in your butt and thighs." After the first minute, switch sides and repeat.
