He'll get annoyed if you try to make something he hates routine. "It has to be satisfying for both of you or it'll never stick," says Katherin Scott, dating coach in Snoqualmie, Washington. For example, instead of hoping he'll start reading you poetry before bedtime, do a crossword together.
Work Up to It
Doing something new can feel forced, so warm up first. "Break down your goal, and start with the tiniest elements," says Cox. If you want to share a quiet moment before work each day, start with a cup of coffee, then build up to a brief chat.
