Within a two-week period, Jackass star Bam Margera spilled to Howard Stern that he'd bedded Jessica Simpson and Nick Carter talked about his short-lived but tumultuous relationship with Pads Hilton. On those same airwaves, John Stamos revealed previously undisclosed info about his breakup with Rebecca Romijn. It could just be that Howard is extraordinarily adept at getting people to open up, but still, isn't gossiping considered a guyhood sin?
It turns out, experts say, that women are partly to blame for the advent of all this kissing and telling. We've spent years trying to get men to express their feelings, and well, it looks like they've listened. Also, reality TV has made confessions trendy. "It's become socially acceptable for men to talk candidly about their relationships," explains Alon Gratch, PhD, author of If Men Could Talk: Translating the Secret Language of Men. It doesn't help that, thanks to the Internet, even your nonfamous guy can overshare about how loud you screamed in bed last night. (Stars use this medium too; this summer, former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker used his MySpace page to slam his ex, Shanna Moakler, for being a bad wife and mother, while The Hills' Jason Wahler, on his MySpace page, detailed his split from Lauren Conrad).
