Water chief now bags Shs20m

Last week, Political Grapevine reported that a top official in National Water & Sewerage Corporation (NW&SC) had been denied Shs27m salary.

The Grapevine urged the man to keep trying because in life you get what you bargain for, not what you deserve.

Indeed the man's bargain has paid off.

Grapevine operatives at NW&SC headquarters on Jinja Road in Kampala report that the board eventually reached a compromise with the Water officer and settled at a salary of Shs20m per month.

Besides the Shs20m, the man is also entitled to four vehicles, free housing, and free medication. This is considered highly classified information at NW&SC and the water body has been pulling their antennas up, trying to establish who leaked the information to the Grapevine. The disturbing part of the news is that other senior officials earn about Shs 4.5m and are distraught about the man's improved pay. The man started at Shs5m, moved to Shs15m and now Shs20m.

"We are like the general happiness group earning peanuts," our operative overheard some employees raging in despair. Ever heard the saying "all animals are equal but some are more equal than others?"
