Dec. 5--Aqua America Inc. of Bryn Mawr said today it had bought the water system assets of the Country Club Gardens Water Co. in Allentown for $100,000. The deal marks Aqua America's first entry into Lehigh County. The three systems acquired supply water to about 1,000 residents in Lower Macungie, South Whitehall and Salisbury townships. The purchase has been aqpproved by the Pennsylvania Pubic Utility Commission.

The company plans to invest nearly $230,000 over the next few years for capital improvements to the three water systems. Aqua America chief executive Nicholas DeBenedictis said the company anticipates further acquisition opportunities in Lehigh…
