Dec. 2--The town of Centralia took a gut punch this week when the nearby TransAlta coal mine shut down, ending 600 well-paying jobs. Although severance pay will last through January, the job losses at the state's last coal mine mean a somber Christmas for many Lewis County families. Centralia businesses can also expect to take a hit. If there's any justice in the world, there will be a consolation prize. Centralia High School is playing in its first state championship football…
